Deck cadet goes to sea for the first time
It’s great to hear from our cadets out at sea, Cameron, one of our deck cadets, has been in touch over the weekend to update us on his journey:
“I’ve just come out of total isolation and I’m now in working isolation, this means I am allowed to work with a mask on!
So far I have been completing checks on all fire extinguishers which are required to be checked for damage, ensuring the gauges are in the green and that they have the correct seals on them. I have also been checking hydrants and hose nozzles ensuring they fit together and are greased making sure everything is okay should it be needed in an emergency.
As there are 11 decks and an average of maybe 50 hydrants per deck this takes quite a while.”
