MCA Approved HELM O Overview
The MCA approved HELM O course is the operational level to the human element, leadership and management course, trainees will gain the knowledge of awareness and understanding human factors influencing resource management.
COURSE CONTENT:
Trainees will study the following:
- Cultural and situational awareness
- Shipboard training, assessing and developing human management
- Team work
- Leadership behaviours
- Situation and risk assessment
- Managing workload including the operation of the ship to care for individuals on board
- Resource management techniques
The next level to the MCA approved HELM O is HELM M which is the management level to manage and lead crew on board.
